Spring is arriving!

Finally it looks like spring is arriving! Little bit more sun and it seems that there is a green shine to our fields. The sheep who are finished lambing and already outside love it. It is a special time of the year, to see the lambs running around, jumping up and down, the mothers happy laying in the grass or eating it. Soon there will be more than 1000 lambs!  From the sheepstable I can see the pregnant mares, and the ones who already got their foals. Very often I peak in their direction, hoping Þekla is seperate from the group and maybe giving birth. But so far nothing more than a big belly. Yesterday evening she was seperate from the group, but when we went to take a look she was just eating left overs…..

Today there was a breedingshow in Akureyri. We were there with two mares. Þyrla got amazing notes, we were so happy with her, she deserves those notes, definetely. But it is not the same weather she deserves them, or really got them on paper. Because that was more the case with Snerpa, she deserves them, but everything went against her. She had to be shoed again just before she was shown and there was blowing a very strong wind. And on such a powerful horse that all together gave to much stress. Hopefully better next time!
