Fall is a beautiful time of the year. In a way you can expect everything from the weather, from beautiful sunshine to white slopes. What crosses my mind is that you often see beautiful rainbows occur in this time of the year. The grass turns many colours from green to yellow and many differences of red. All together a beauty for the eye!

In september and october the farmers are gathering their animals from the highlands. You will see, especially in the weekends groups of people gathering sheep and horses on many different places. Sometimes the farmers are walking often they will ride horses, have maybe 2-3 horses per person. Around them there will be hundreds of sheep and horses, or even thousands of sheep. For the biggest sheepround ups it is best to be in early september. In our area we usually leave to fetch the sheep the first sunday in september, and the roundup is the week after. Also there are many dances in the weekends. If you like to uplive an evening among local people and real Icelandic music it is a must to go to a ´ball´ that is held around every round up. There will be played life music all night by Icelandics famous bands out in the countryside.

The light that we have 24 hours during the summer is fading away. And in the evening the more darker times start to show. This also gives an opportunity to uplive the aurora borealis.
